KIA ORA!
We are in New Zealand!
We are very excited to fence, sheer, beekeep, build, dig and play in the dirt - not to mention sail, snorkel, backpack, camp, and beachcomb!

Tongariro NP
Here we are, atop Ngauruhoe with Ruapehu in the background. Pretty sweet hike - tough to the top (6oom elevation gain in 1km). This came in the middle of our 4-day backpack in Tongariro NP. The different ecotypes that the trail went through were fantastic (dry tussock grass plains, crater bottoms, NZ's only desert, sharp volcanic scoria, pumice and ash, Mordor moonscapes, and beech forests!). We picked up a third passenger today, an eight-foot section of our exhaust. With the help of a kind Kiwi, we are now in New Plymouth with a Harley/Toyota hybrid. Our next WWOOF is about 20km away and we'll get it all sorted later. A week here at the base of Mt. Taranaki in New Plymouth and then it is off to the South Island. Check out the past posts, they now have photos. Cheers.

Got a new Hot Water heater--something that needed doing. All is well here. No real snow on the ground--you can see through it. Got your E about your last location--proud of you for making a change. Going to look up Nelson to see where you are going. Found a great site that shows roads etc. along with pics. Loved the pictures, wish I could have seen you two all mudded up. Hugs and kisses.
MOM
Hey,
Liz and I have had our new puppy for three days now and we still don't have a name for her. Any cool NZ words you can think of? She's really sweet and has some real spunk! I've been checking your blog pretty regularly (8-10 times an hour, every hour, all night all day...love that high speed) but haven't felt inspired to write. Same old stuff, I'm super impressed with you two, loving my job, I'm starting to wonder if the hemispheres may have actually switched seasons. It's not snowing there is it? Well, it's time to go for a walk. For a small dog, she certainly can clear a room!
